Course Overview

The course introduces learners to psychological concepts, theories, explanations, named studies and research methods. Learners examine memory and forgetting, sleep and dreams, prosocial behaviour, visual perception, motivation and needs, and language development. Research methods are taught as a continuous strand so learners can interpret evidence, apply methodological knowledge to scenarios and plan ethical investigations.

Because AO2 application carries the largest assessment weighting, lessons move regularly from accurate knowledge to unfamiliar, age-appropriate scenarios. Learners practise concise short answers, data interpretation, research-methods analysis and structured extended responses using arguments for and against syllabus theories and concepts.
