IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL CAMS AND ATD STUDENTS
RE: INCLUSION OF CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT TEST (CAT) MARKS IN FINAL EXAMINATION RESULTS
Dear SGI Students,
Synapse Global Institute (SGI) wishes to inform all students undertaking the Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS) and Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD) programmes of an important change announced by KASNEB.
Through Circular Ref. 126/ATI/XVI/224 dated 8 October 2026, KASNEB has confirmed that, effective from the December 2026 examination sitting, Continuous Assessment Test (CAT) marks will contribute to the final examination scores for specified certificate and diploma qualifications.
Under the new arrangement, your final examination score will comprise:
15% — Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) administered by your training institution.
85% — Final Examination administered by KASNEB.
This means that your performance during the semester will contribute directly to your final examination results.
KASNEB requires students to undertake two Continuous Assessment Tests:
CAT 1: Administered around the middle of the semester after covering at least 40% of the syllabus.
CAT 2: Administered before the end of the semester after covering at least 80% of the syllabus.
Each CAT will be marked out of 100%, and the CAT component will contribute 15% towards the final examination score.
KASNEB has clarified that candidates must have both their CAT marks and final examination marks for examination results to be issued.
Students are therefore encouraged to take both assessments seriously and complete them within the timelines communicated by SGI.
KASNEB has set Monday, 16 November 2026 as the deadline for training institutions to submit CAT marks.
Please note that this is the institutional submission deadline. SGI will communicate the specific assessment dates and deadlines applicable to its students.
All CAMS and ATD students are encouraged to:
Regularly access the SGI Learning Management System (LMS) and monitor academic announcements.
Prepare adequately for both CAT 1 and CAT 2.
Complete all prescribed assessments within the communicated timelines.
Continue attending classes and using the available learning resources and revision materials.
Seek clarification promptly whenever they encounter difficulties with their assessments.
At Synapse Global Institute, we remain committed to providing accessible, flexible, inclusive and quality professional education.
Our digital learning model is designed to support students balancing education with employment, family responsibilities, geographical limitations and other personal circumstances.
We will continue guiding our learners through the new assessment requirements and communicating the relevant procedures to support their academic success.
Important: This particular KASNEB circular applies to the specified certificate and diploma programmes, including CAMS and ATD. It does not announce the same CAT weighting for CPA examinations.
We encourage all affected students to take note of this development and prepare accordingly.
